Jackie’s News Ltd: Top tips for HND Month

Guy Day co-owner of Jackie’s News in Tenterden, Kent took to x.com to celebrate the launch of HND Month 2024! He shared his thoughts on how to maximise the opportunity for retailers throughout this years campaign.

Guy’s top five tips are shown below and may be useful to you and your business over the coming month.

  1. Ask regular collectors of papers in the shop if they would like their weekend papers delivered, we offer an 8-week free delivery period, to try and change their habit of collecting and move them to delivery.
  2. Try the Royal Mail “Door to Door” leaflet delivery service, the main benefit is that they deliver to rural houses that many other leaflet delivery companies do not go to https://royalmail.com/business/marketing/mail/door-to-door
  3. Consider a referral scheme that rewards your current HND customers if they introduce a new customer to you. It’s always good to be able to give a current customer something back.
  4. Maintaining HND customers – this is super important! Go through your customers and if they are not subscribed to the title they receive, talk with them, advise them of the saving and give them the contact details. The less a customer pays, the longer they stay with you!
  5. It’s a good time of year to get the message out that you deliver newspapers come wind, rain or shine. Make sure the service is advertised clearly in your shop and try and engage with local Parish Magazines also, their readers are often your demographic, especially those new to your area.

Jackie’s News Ltd deliver to c.3,900 customers daily. The business has grown exponentially since Guy and Neill took over the business in 2007.
