Craig Etchells fantatic support for HND Month.

National Home News Delivery Month runs throughout October across the UK and has around 6,000 retailers signed up, who deliver newspapers straight to their customers’ doors weekly.

Thousands of readers nationwide enjoy Home News Delivery. It is an important service for people who have mobility issues or for those who simply wish to have the convenience of having the paper delivered to their home.

The Home News Delivery service creates strong newspaper sales and relies on brilliant delivery partners who work around the clock to ensure people receive newspapers or magazines on time. As the nights get colder and darker, October is an ideal time to place an order for home delivery as it guarantees customers get their news, no matter the weather. In addition, the service reflects the positive bond between retailers and their customers and reinforces community spirit.

National Home News Delivery Month is a chance to spotlight the incredible work of loyal retailers who provide this outstanding service. More than 1,000 retailers are participating in National Home News Delivery Month and they will have promotional posters promoting their service.

Among them are Craig Etchells and his brother Chris, who run C&W Etchells Newsagent and Convenience Store at 44 Beech Road, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester.

They took over the small shop from their parents Carol and William, who began running it in 1967, and have been offering a Home News Delivery service to their customers ever since.

Speaking about the Home News Delivery service, Craig said it supported them in reaching potential customers and helped the community stay connected to people and the things happening outside their homes.

He said: “It helps people who are less able-bodied and allows them to be aware of what is happening outside of their doorstep. Home News Delivery Month is important because it helps to keep people aware of the service we offer.

“In today’s climate people read online, but there’s a quality in reading printed material.

“When you read news online you can go off on a tangent, but with printed newspapers you get a better depth of news. You read a newspaper for a lot longer than an online article and don’t get distracted by pop-up ads.”

Craig says customers like the convenience of having the newspaper delivered to their homes as they are busy working during the week and enjoy relaxing at the weekend.

The newsagent has 400 customers using the Home News Delivery service each week, with customers aged 50 and over opting for the service every day of the week and younger generations using the weekend service.

Craig said: “The Reach plc vouchers support newsagents; they let people know we still offer this service.” The shop charges £3.25 a week – 45p per delivery Monday to Friday and 50p on weekends – and is offering free delivery for the first month.
